If you only want to use a KAL centre for playing sports (Badminton, Squash etc) or are only an occasional user then you can take out a Flexi card and get 20% off selected activities . If you are looking to swim, take part in classes or use the gym more than twice a week then a membership may work out more cost effective.

U16s Fitness

Junior Memberships 

Our Junior membership is available for 8 - 15 year olds and they can take part in the following classes.

SwimFit

Suitable for swimmers aged 8 to 15 years old, who have achieved their Stage 5 Swim England award. Lessons are 45 minutes long & will be delivered by a qualified Level 2 swimming instructor.

SwimFit lessons are available at the following centres:

Batley Sports & Tennis Centre and Huddersfield Leisure Centre

GymFit 

Suitable for 13-15 years old and available at the following centres:

Batley Sports & Tennis Centre, Colne Valley Leisure Centre,  Holmfirth Pool & Fitness Centre, Huddersfield Leisure Centre and Scissett Baths & Fitness Centre.

Free Swimming 

As part of your child’s Junior Fitness membership, they will benefit from free public swimming across all of the 9 swimming pools.

A parent/guardian will need to sign up on behalf of any under 16s. The application form will require the parents/guardian details first, and then the child’s details.

Corporate & Student memberships

We also offer a range of Corporate & Student memberships

KAL offer a discounted rate for our Corporate and Student members, providing you meet the criteria. If your company has an existing corporate membership and you wish to join or you are a full time student, please complete the form opposite and a member of our team will contact you. be eligible for the student discount, you must be a full-time student. All you need to know about memberships

Looking to Join?

I am interested in joining, can I book in for a tour?

No need to book, just pop into your local centre and a member of staff will be happy to show you around.


What is an off-peak membership?

An off-peak membership is available when our centres tend to be slightly quieter, where we offer a reduced membership rate. Our off-peak times are: Monday-Friday 9am until 4pm; and any time on a Saturday and Sunday.

Please Note: Last entry for off-peak members is 30 min before the end of the session (3:30PM)


What is the difference between a monthly and contract membership?

We offer both a monthly flexible membership, which is more expensive but does not have a contract and gives members the flexibility to cancel with just 30 days’ notice, or members can choose to commit to a contract and 12 full payments and, in return for this commitment, they will receive a lower monthly rate.


(Please note any period of freeze or non-payment are not included in the 12 payments.)


Do you offer a corporate membership? 

Yes, we have various companies in the local area whose employees are eligible for our corporate rate. For further details please contact our Customer Service Team on contact.centre@kal.org.uk


Do you offer Student memberships?

Yes, we do to full time students. Proof of your full-time student status is required. For further details please contact our Customer Service Team on contact.centre@kal.org.uk


I want to join an over 60s membership?

We simply need official proof of your age, e.g. a passport, driving licence, etc


Already joined ?

Can I freeze my membership?

All customers are able to freeze their membership by up to 3 months each year (Jan-Dec). We just require 30 days written notice. You can request a freeze by completing a freeze request form in the contact us section of the website.


I am in a contract membership but no longer want to continue with my membership, can I cancel?

When a member joins KAL they choose the membership option which best suits their needs. We offer both monthly flexible memberships, which are more expensive but do give the member the flexibility to cancel with just 30 days’ notice, or members can choose to commit to a 12-payment option and in return we offer these members a lower monthly rate.


I have realised that my email or mobile phone number is not correct – how can I update it?

Please email our Customer Service Team at contact.centre@kal.org.uk with your new details and we will update your record. It is very important that you keep your details up to date as we will always communicate with you via email.


I owe money for my membership - how do I make that payment?

Please call KAL Customer Service on 01484766131 option 5.


Do I need to have an orientation?

An orientation is a 30-minute-long introduction to the gym, which will enable you to familiarise yourself with the gym and provide basic knowledge on key pieces of equipment.


Orientations are not compulsory, but KAL do advise having one, especially if you are new to using a gym.


What is the Shape programme ?

Shape is a programme to help you shape your workout and SHAPE your lifestyle? KAL Fitness members can take advantage of one of our workout plans which are all included free of charge with their membership. You can choose from Build, Cardio, Core, Lean and Strength. All have three levels to choose from beginner, intermediate and advanced. All you need to do is pick up a workout plan when you visit the gym and give it a go!

How do I get my Member ID and PIN once I have joined?

A few minutes after joining you will be sent a welcome email which details your Member ID. You can then use your Member ID to log into our app. Once you have your Member ID, go into the app and click on “forgotten my password”. Put in your Member ID and you will receive an email with a link in to reset your password. Please note: Your Member ID is not your card number.


Flexi Card

Where do I find details of the Flexi Card and what is it?

As a Flexi Card holder you will benefit from a wide range of discounts and exclusive offers across Kirklees. You can use the card at all KAL centres and against a selection of local services and products. Benefits include entry level access to KAL, giving you access to discounted activity rates without taking out our full membership.


It’s worth noting if you swim or go to the gym more than twice a week or you attend more than two group fitness classes a week you could be paying up to £48 per month, while KAL have memberships starting from only £19.95/month.


How do I renew my Flexi Card online?

If you pay for your Flexi Card by annual Direct Debit the good news is it will automatically renew every year. Alternatively, you can pay £5.00 at your local centre.


How do I cancel my Flexi Card?

You can cancel your Flexi card Direct Debit completing a cancellation form in the contact us section of the website.


Wellbeing

I have a carer; can they attend with me?

If you are a holder of a Kirklees Passport with the A +1 benefit, then you will be able to bring your registered carer with you. You should book your session as normal and your carer may then accompany you on your visit. Please ensure you bring your Kirklees Passport showing your A+1 benefit with you when you visit.


All carers will need to book a slot as well & can do this by emailing contact.centre@kal.org.uk


Please note: your carer cannot use the centres without you and must remain with you at all times. They are not permitted to use the centres for their own needs; the carer is to support you.


Cancellation

How do I cancel my membership?

We are sorry to hear that you have decided you no longer wish to remain a member of KAL. Providing you are not in your contracted period; you simply need to complete the cancellation form in the contact us section on the website.


I have a contract membership; will my contract date be automatically extended?

All contract memberships require members to make a minimum of 12 payments.


Any period of non-payment or freeze does not count towards your number of contracted payments.


If you have cancelled your Direct Debit in error, please email our Customer Service Team at contact.centre@kal.og.uk with your account details so we can reinstate your Direct Debit.


How much is it for a replacement membership card

To replace a lost or damaged membership card there will be a fee of £5 to pay.


Bookings

How do I alter/cancel a class booking on the app?

Members – It is really easy to change your booking via our app. Please be aware if you have paid for an activity, these are non-refundable or changeable.


Flexi Card & pre-paid bookings – Unfortunately, bookings cannot be amended or cancelled


Can I book my class at a KAL centre or over the phone?

Yes, you can book your class at a KAL centre. However, unfortunately, you will not be able to book your entry slot over the phone.


How many days in advance can I book?

You can book 7 days in advance. Slots become available to book from 9pm.


We kindly request that you only book for sessions that you can attend to ensure all customers have an opportunity to book a session.


Please also remember to cancel any sessions giving at least 24 hours notice where possible to enable another customer to take your place.


What are the guidelines for bookings?

Please ensure you swipe your card even if the barrier is open. We monitor non-attendance and will contact you if we notice you have not swiped your card upon entry to your pre-booked activity session.


When booking a swimming slot, a session has a 15-minute entry time for you to arrive and check in.


If you have two activities booked, a class and a swim, for example, one scan of your card upon entry will be enough to mark your attendance for the next 3 hours.


If you are unable to attend a pre-booked session, please cancel with as much notice as possible (ideally at least 24 hours) to allow another customer to take your place


What will happen to customers who repeatedly no-show to pre-booked sessions?

KAL will contact customers via email, text and phone to make them aware of their no-shows. If a customer repeatedly fails to swipe attendance for booked sessions even after being reminded of our guidelines, whilst it is not something we take lightly, we may look to take more serious action on a members account, such as stopping them from being able to pre-book classes for a period of time


I have now unfrozen my membership & it will be active in 7 days; can I book an activity in the meantime? 

Unfortunately, no. The booking system is based on your current membership status so until your membership is live again you will not be able to book.


I can't remember my PIN/password for the app or have never logged on before?

Please go to my bookings on the app; the app will then take you to a log in page. Once there you will see a link to – “forgotten my password”. Click this and it will ask for your ID number. Once submitted you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Please note: your ID is not your card number; if you don’t have your member ID number, please email us. You can create and reset your PIN in the same way
